A narrative solo-performance of the story of a devout woman artist creating in conservative post-independence India. Interwoven with classical Carnatic music renderings of the heartfelt compositions of Smt. K.M. Soundaryavalli, the performance explores the creative self-expression of a woman oppressed by her times. Her lyrical compositions unravel her turning to the Divine through song and poetry for love, acceptance and strength, revealing the cry of her soul imbued with inspiration born of great suffering.

The piece culminates with an introduction to the efforts of the performer to curate and archive all of the works of KMS, following the inner instructions of a great art that is demanding to survive through generations of time.
