|| ABOUT THE ARTISTES

Shashwati Garai Ghosh
Shashwati Garai Ghosh is a leading odissi dancer of this generation who has made a niche in her field. Coming from a family of artists has made her believe that art reflects life, and now she experiences life through the art of dance. Kolkata-based Shashwati is widely acknowledged as one of the best Odissi dancers today. She is the senior most disciple of internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Sharmila Biswas, her association with her guru since 1999 has made her grow as a dancer she wanted to be in every aspect.
With many feathers on her cap, Shashwati feels fortunate to be the first recipient of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Yuva Pratibha Samman and Bismillah Khan Yuva awardee for Odissi
in 2016.

In Kolkata, she runs her own Odissi dance institute: Angashuddhi – Home for Odissi. This is her initiative to nurture, and pass on the experience of learning Odissi dance to the next generation, to explore more vistas and encourage and imbibe the roots of Odissi to the next generation. Shashwati has performed at the most prestigious festivals and venues in India and abroad.
Along with performances Shashwati regularly conducts workshops for schools and institutes around India.
