Kalaripayattu is an Indian martial art form from the northern part of ancient Kerala. One of the oldest fighting systems in existence, it includes strikes, kicks, grappling, preset forms, weaponry and healing methods. The art form works on the idea of channeling the force given by the opponent back to his/her body.

Raam Kumar is a Kalarippayttu artist and contemporary dancer from Kerala. He follows the lineage of Veera Sree C.V.Narayanan Nair, his great grandfather, and Sri C.V.Govindan Kutty Nair, his grandfather.
He studied Kalaripayattu for over 22 years under the CVN Kalari tradition and worked as faculty at CVN Kalari. He has also taught at the Diploma program at Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts for 3 years.
