The Art of Theatrical Poetry was born from the need to break away from restrictive, uninviting art forms. Birthed in the nest of Spoken Word, Theatre, Movement, and Music it offers you an experimental space to create original compositions using the four elements.

Theatrical Poetry asks of you ” What do you think people do on stage? Do people on stage speak? Dance? Sing? Can they stand still and not move for 14.3 minutes? Can they sing if they are bad singers? Can they dance if they are bad dancers?” Within and beyond these questions, we will play, create, and imagine without asking for permission and without assuming the burden to entertain.

This 6-weekend program is facilitated by Nupur Saraswat, who has been creating the framework of, and practicing, Theatrical Poetry for the last four year. Sujay Saple, the artistic director of Shapeshift who has been creating and living in the performing arts space for the last fifteen years, steps in all the way from Mumbai to equip the artists with movement and theatre tools to help them tell the best story they can with their words and their bodies.
