Questioning Frontality/Changing Body is Vyuti’s latest exploration that further pushes the boundaries of what is possible and acceptable within classical dance than its previous staging of ‘Questioning Frontality’ at Shoonya last year. A work-in-progress then, and continuing to be now – Vyuti will bring its body of work to Bangalore audiences through a fresh lens once again. As the title suggests, the staging is designed to create multiple fronts of viewing, and this time, the performance also challenges the accepted aesthetics of the classical Indian dancing body as expecting mother and Artistic Director, Aranyani performs with the Vyuti dancers, together discovering how the work adapts itself to the physiological changes in her body.

On Questioning Frontality previously staged at Shoonya –
“…this performance has the potential to resist, subvert, dismiss some very dominant hierarchies that the practice and performance of Bharatanatyam is fraught with in the present age” – The Hindu, Bangalore, June 2018

On Changing Body – “It has been fascinating to discover how the work changes to highlight and celebrate my changing body – new movements and trajectories have emerged, the touch has yet another new meaning, the bond between us dancers feels different – the choreography has evolved. It’s beautiful to see and experience” – Aranyani, Artistic Director, Vyuti
