In 1997, a yatch racing captain sailed a rarely traversed area of the North Pacific Ocean through a sea of plastic considered to be ‘twice the size of Texas’. “Every time I came on deck, there was trash floating by. How could we have fouled such a huge area?” – Capt. Charles Moore

Charles Moore then went on to work closely with raising awareness about this massive soup of buoyant plastic, now known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

Inspired by Moore, a young couple had one urgent question. ”What about the rest of the world’s oceans?” Forming the 5 Gyres Institute, this documentary is about their journey of exploring the extent of plastic waste across the South Atlantic Ocean.

Come journey with the crew from the 5 Gyres Institute as they sail across the world oceans following the plastic trail.
