What journey must a man take to become a Kalaripayattu master? What are his motivations and how will they change when they confront the intricacy of the art itself? What is the essence of this ancient martial art? What vision does a Guru see and impart? Here lies the story of a man who followed a legend as an outsider, and soon discovered that it is outside that he must return to become that very legend.

About the Artists:

Faraway:
Faraway is a collective of artists and artisans, storytellers and those whose stories will be told. We are a core team of four that collaborates with folk from all walks of life, to tell a story in any and every platform. The idea of faraway lies in the irony that the places you need to go, the people you need to meet and the stories you need to tell, lie only a step away from where you stop. It is that destination that lies at the end of that single step we call faraway.

The Hindustan Kalari Sangam, Kozhikode and the Kalarigram, Auroville:
The Hindustan Kalari Sangam, Kozhikode, founded in 1950 is one of the premier Kalaripayattu schools in the country. Kalarigram, Auroville is a sister concern that started in 2008 on the invitation of Veena Paani, the founder of the Adishakti Theatre. These two schools are where the Kalari masters of the film come from. These two schools are where the filmmakers of this film, learnt the craft over two years, and attempt to breakdown the movement and essence of this incredible art.

Nikhil who is the protagonist of the film will also perform a little piece where he explores the journey of the movement through time. He also is a teacher at the Kalarigram, Auroville and is considered one of the finest up and coming modern day masters of the martial art.
