What is Morning Movement Education?

The best Morning Weekend classes in Bangalore, combining yoga, relaxation, martial arts, strengthening and endurance training all in one!

We have two amazing teachers lined up for this module. It is a regular weekend class for adults, split up into two hours. Both forms work very well together to work on flexibility, strength, posture, alignment, movement, form and breath. Come start your weekends with some ancient body wisdom. In our expansive studios you’ll have enough room to move and explore these two deep and enriching practices that will change your body for the better.

Ajeesh K Balakrishnan has been a Karate black belt, a cricket player in the competitive field, a contemporary dancer with over a decade of experience who has collaborated with artists all over the world. His embodied knowledge is rich, layered and extremely reliable. With Ajeesh you are in gentle yet discerning hands. A favourite among students, let this gentle and strong teacher greet you every weekend morning, and then teach you how to move like lightning!

Asha Ponikiewska is not only a yoga teacher, an actor and dancer but also an expressive arts therapist. She brings this empathy and knowledge into her classes. Her yoga classes for adults shall be based on Hatha yoga as well as Sivananda yoga and shall combine pranayama, asana practice and relaxation. We shall work towards improving strength, endurance and flexibility as well as finding the importance of breath in our movements and everyday life. Each class shall try to bring holistic benefits to the body and mind.

Citizens of Stage Co Lab is a vivacious collective of seventeen dancers. Some are among the finest movers in the country. Working together in the state of the art Shoonya – Centre for Art and Somatic Practices studios they create work that doesn’t compromise on skill, finesse, artistry and emotion. They are mostly mid career artists with rich experience and yet the curioisty to do more. They believe in remaining independent and yet being part of a collective community. These dancers have come together to share the joy and beauty of contemporary dance with their home – Bangalore and India. They are all artists pushing the boundaries and working on themselves in order to shift the energy in the community.
The people around us need art and they need movement. Whether you are in an office all day or are a child or senior citizen. Whether you are a student or an artist from another genre, a parent or a sportsperson, the collective has something meaningful to offer you.

That is what the Collective firmly believes. Through our performances, classes, workshops and other offerings, this is what we are trying to do. And at the same time we get to have fun, get fit, meet people, build community and experience something new. That’s the power of dance.
